6:00 this argument (in addition to it's what the Bible teaches in multiple places) is why I am a flat-earther. In the biblical cosmology, God's throne is literally right on top of the firmament right over our heads, looking down on us. It's a real and present God, as opposed to the distant, forgettable God that Satan would want the world to believe in, if we had to believe in God, the God that is somewhere out there beyond infinite space (a logical fallacy I might add. You can't have anything beyond the infinite.).

I would actually argue that in the book of Acts the times when the head of the home professed their faith they were baptized and their entire home. The fact that the entire home was then baptized could imply that children not old enough to profess their own faith were too baptized. Even if there were not, it shows the process the early church stuck with. Preach the gospel and baptize all who believed including those that were in the home of a father leading their homes as a family shepherd.

Another critique of Piper's emotionalism over knowledge and reason: "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?" Jeremiah 17:9 That's Jehovah God speaking directly btw.

Piper comes off as naive in this discussion with regards to black voting habits. His black friend may reason in his head that he voted for Obama based on a handful of issues, but the truth is that all minorities, especially blacks, use their political power as a monolith, thus he voted for Obama literally only based on the color of his skin. Whites, afraid of being called labels made up by the Frankfurt School, founded by a certain ethnicity that hates whites and Christianity, refuse to throw their political weight around for their own self-interest, at the expense of their children and children's children. They sell their future for their appearance. Whites in the west essentially drive the dagger in their own children's backs themselves to save face with people that hate them. They hate them not because of their actions, but because of who they are (their immutable attributes), thus no action they take will make them be liked by those they hate them. They kill their own children's future for naught. It's the great tragedy of our time.

Think less on being a pastor or seeking what church leaders want of you, getting lost in that church structure. Give your whole life to Jesus & ask him personally what "he" wants of you. He may lead you into learning, then send you to work where he desires, such as a factory down the road, where he may have you getting to know a lot of people whom you may be called to testify to or to help them better understand the lord & how sin (such as drinking) destroys lives & separates people from God. Become his disciple, sent into the world, rather than stuck in a church. You'll have a lot more freedom to speak truthfully & say the hard things , rather than what most pastors do, conforming to the ideologies of their denominations & needing to keep everyone happy to keep those dollars rolling in.

This is exactly what I’ve been trying to communicate to myself and others regarding the current push by many American so-called “Patriots” making attempts at “restoring our Constitutional Republic…” The reality is the very establishment of this Republic was hinged on the singular idea of Christian Nationalism, which, in contrast to the modern makeup of our nation, was the overwhelming majority makeup of the nation back then. When John Adams stated, “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” He was speaking from an assumption that Christian Nationalism is foundational. Without the foundation of Christian Nationalism to build upon, the Republic CANNOT be restored.

Romans 9-11 has a very happy ending: "God has committed all to disobedience that he might have mercy on all ... From him and through him and to him are all things." (Romans 11:32,36) Romans 8:20-21 is similar.

This is just warmed over civic nationalism. Erica Metaxas, a Christian evangelical influencer, said America is an idea. Ronald Reagan said anyone from anywhere can come here and become an American. But that was never the vision of America until the civil rights movement after World War 2. The 1828 Webster's dictionary is the first American dictionary and still the most popular home schooling dictionary today. It defines Americans as "descendants of Europeans born in America."

Doug, I've seen these arguments repeated so many times in my life. Look, Elders and Deacons in the church are for the LOCAL church only, the LOCAL body of believers. Only the LOCAL body can elect them. They are LITERALLY the Elders and "Servants" in THAT local Body of believers and have absolutely NO authority anywhere else. It is a hold-over from the days when Jewish converts would assemble in the Synagogues. Later Paul instructed Timothy to maintain that tradition. The Callings of The Holy Spirit, on the other hand, are for the WORLD-WIDE BODY of Christ. Read that again. They can go across town and be recognized, across Country and be recognized, around the World and be recognized. Take "Bro. Terry" who is and Elder in a LOCAL church, he travels to Texas, and has NO AUTHORITY as an Elder in any church in Texas. The Apostle Paul however, can go ANY where to ANY church in the WORLD and be recognized as an Apostle/Missionary/Evangelist, whatever of The Lord Jesus Christ. They can serve anywhere in whatever capacity the Holy Spirit equips them for. A Woman CAN absolutely Preach, Missionize, Evangelize, Pastor, etc. She is called and Equipped by God, The Holy Spirit to do so. NOT to mention woman were called Pastors in the Old Testament... How did the wool get pulled over so many eyes and gotten tricked into thinking "Elders and Deacons" were the same as Holy Spirit Gifts/Callings?! They are not the same. Never were.

In addition, we live in a Romans 1 society where covenant-breaking is the norm and men and women have no idea about a husband and wife becoming one flesh. As the matter of fact, society bends itself like a contortionist to avoid those two biblical terms, instead substituting words like “partner”, “life-partner “, “my person”, “my special someone”. If we’re not willing to identify what is, we’re not willing to fulfill the definition of such.

Wait a second, Doug! Why should marriage come under the authority of the government instead of the authority of the church? True, marriage does create property and custody issues, but the Apostle Paul dealt with lawsuits between believers in 1 Corinthians 6. Why shouldn’t the church be the arbiter of marital disputes?

There's no such thing as a Christian nation on earth. No, kingdom now. Believers are in heavenly places in Christ now, before the throne, under the rule of God. Jesus himself said his kingdom is not of this world. The kingdom will indeed come, when Jesus comes to establish the kingdom on earth.

That's weird. I don't remember Aslan fighting a Dragon Eustace and forcing him to take off his dragon-ness. I remember Dragon Eustace wanting to not be a dragon anymore and realizing he needed Aslan to do it. Furthermore, how does Aslan saying that they wouldn't have called on him if he didn't call them first equal him meaning that him calling them forced them to call on him? It's not honest to say CSL was a Calvinist when he clearly wrote against it.

A quote from "English Literature in the 16th Century" that is worth considering in this context: "Grotius . . . asserts that the Law of Nature, actually derived from God, would be equally binding even if we supposed that no God existed. It is another way of saying that good would still be good if stripped of all power. It is the extreme opposite of the Calvinist view, which comes near to saying that onmipotence must be worshipped even if it is evil, that power is venerable when stripped of all good; and it is no doubt incomparably less dangerous to theism . . . In the magician and the astrologer we saw a readiness either to exaggerate or to minimize the power and dignity of Man. Calvinism perhaps satisfies both inclinations by plunging the unregenerate man as deep as the astrologers and exalting the elect as highly as the magicians."

I think Doug framed this wrong. He used the term free market for capitalism. But disttibutists or localists do not regard glibalist forms of capitalism as a free market. Rather it is a market made up of cowardly men that are afraid to stand up to large industries in local communities. The three acres and a cow is a hyperbolic model used to illustrate not a practical goal. Localists can address the issues of a city without being neo luddites or anarcho primitivists. Distributism/ localism is not an end goal as much as a tendency towards local.
